Subconscious Mind Power - A Means To An End

By Graham J Milne

If you've ever seen the old movie, "Field of Dreams," you might remember the saying, "If you build it, they will come." You have your own field of dreams, and that is your subconscious mind. In this case, "If you think it, it will come."

See, the power to create the life of your dreams, to change the person you are, to change the way things are in your life is all in your mind. The power of the mind is a beautiful thing, honestly. The mind has the power to heal us, to transcend us to make us feel good or make us feel bad. The subconscious mind power that each of us have is enough to completely change the world if we all would only take control of that power.

If you're skeptical, don't worry. A lot of people are. However, let's take a look at a few examples of just how powerful your mind can be. One of the most obvious is scientific, and actually occurs in the medical field. This particular subconscious mind effect has been documented over and over again. Called the "placebo effect," it's most often used when medical trials are underway. One group of patients in the study is given a placebo, which is made of some type of inert substance that has no physical effect. The other group of patients in the study is given the actual drug. Both groups are told what the medication is used for and what it should do for them. Neither group knows whether they've gotten the placebo or the actual medication.

Most studies have shown at least some of what is called the "placebo effect." That is, at least some of the people in the placebo group have shown "effects" from the "drug," even though they've actually gotten a placebo. That is, their subconscious minds decided that they had gotten the drug and produced some of the same benefits and side effects as they were told the actual medication would give them. Simply, these patients believed they had gotten the medication, so their subconscious minds produced the medication's effects to at least some degree.

Or, let's take another example. Perhaps you've gone to the doctor to get a medication for something that's wrong with you. You may have noticed that although a doctor will tell you what the side effects are, he or she will usually minimize them to at least some extent. That's because it's been shown that patients will often exaggerate the side effects in their own minds (or become the small percentage that actually experiences severe side effects), and actually begin to experience those side effects as a sort of "negative self-fulfilling prophecy." Doctors don't want that to happen, so although they are beholden by law to tell you what side effects are, they don't exaggerate them specifically because they don't want patients to create side effects.

What do these two examples above prove? That the power of suggestion AND the power of the subconscious mind will give you a very powerful results. It works in the medical field, and it can work in your everyday life, too. Why can't you tap into this power and positively change your life? You can, with the power of suggestion; change the way your subconscious mind works by using it to your advantage.

Or, you may want to use visualization to alter the way you see things. Visualization is a simple technique that really, truly works. You can do this a couple of ways. Try this; close your eyes and visualize what you want. See it as though you're looking at it from your perspective, with it right in front of you.

Another way to use your subconscious mind to change your reality is to actually find or create a physical picture. Let's say, for example, that you want a specific kind of new car. Find a picture of that car in a magazine, or better yet, have a friend take a picture of you standing by that car. Hang that picture up where you can see it every day. The more you see it, the more you will imprint that vision of yourself with the car you want in your subconscious mind. And because your subconscious mind is so powerful, it will eventually make that become a reality.

The power of the subconscious mind is not newly discovered; many people have known about it for years, in fact, and use it to their advantage. However, until recently, it's been a nebulous rather than scientifically proven fact. That's changed with scientists' discovery of the scientific process associated with the power of the subconscious mind.

At subatomic levels matter ceases to be 'solid' and is shown to be pure energy. Quantum physics has shown beyond doubt that this energy can be manipulated by the mind. In fact as strange as it seems, quantum physics actually shows that this energy can not exist without the mind of the observer.

So matter/energy only exists because it is being observed; in other words it is the mind which is responsible for the matter existing - not the other way around. All matter and hence all reality has been proven to be a creation of our mind. This is the true meaning of 'subconscious mind power'!

Ancient religions have known this for thousands of years, but modern science has finally jumped on board with this knowledge, too, since the advent of quantum physics. Therefore, no matter your spiritual mindset, you can't deny that quantum physics proves the power of the mind.

So if you could change your life just by thinking about it, wouldn't you? All you have to do is harness your subconscious mind power. Use it to your advantage instead of letting it control you. Spend the next week using affirmations or visualization techniques to acquire what you want. Make it something small at first and when you see that it works make yourself a new life by developing your subconscious mind power.
