Your Guide To Learning Golf

By Leslie Shaba

Learning to play golf can be a challenging task. You need ample time to study all the rules of the game before you even pick up your golf club. The presence of an instructor will help you overcome those mistakes that are common among beginners. You can expect to improve the golf game by leaps and bounds when these mistakes are rectified.

Beginners learning golf tend to lookup when striking the ball. Do you know that this can result to a stroke being counted even if you do not actually strike the ball? Always look down after you have hit the ball! Rotating your hips after hitting should make this easier. Additionally, ensuring that you keep your arms extended fully while you are swinging has been known to help many people learning golf. There is one simple step you can use to avoid looking up too quickly after a hit, try counting to five.

It is common for people who are learning golf to miss the putts when out on the green. To help overcome this problem you should ensure that you are standing in the putting stance and looking straight down at the top of your ball. If you are not looking directly down, you are likely to miss the appropriate hit and your ball will veer off in an undesirable direction. Only look straight down at the ball when you actually putt and you will be looking at a much greater chance of actually hitting the ball into the hole without having to make unnecessary putts.

Many people learning golf also have a problem with the ball going into the sides of the green, rather than straight ahead. It is easy to overcome this tendency. The first thing you always need to keep in mind is your stance because if you are not standing appropriately before you even swing the club, you are not going to have a successful stroke. Take some time to see that you are not hitting the ball from the side of the club. This will definitely throw the ball to the side of the green.

You need to develop the strong and solid swing in order to throw the ball into the direction you want it to go. Hooking the golf ball can be frustrating for a beginner learning golf but must be overcome as soon as possible. Some have a problem with their stance which causes the ball to hook, while others are gripping the club too much, causing it to hit the ball the wrong way. Regardless of your problem, taking a close look at your stance, as well as ensuring that you are not gripping the club too tightly should be quite helpful in correcting a hooked ball. Nothing can replace hard work so do practice as often as you can.
