Positives And Negatives Of Tvs

By Patricia Connor

pretty much every household in the developed world has a TV in it these days. In fact in many houses all over the world there will be multiple TVs throughout the house. Walk into the kitchen and there's a TV for when you do the cooking. Go to the living room and there's one there for the family. Go to your bedroom and there's one there for when you want to lie in bed. TVs are all over the place, but is this a good or a bad thing?

first off all lets look at the good stuff. TVs are certainly entertaining and can offer people a lot of pleasure and enjoyment. After a long days work many people just want to come home, settle into their favorite chair, and put on their favorite soap opera. It is a great way to relax and pass time when you are feeling bored. And when you are feeling down or depressed about something in your life, you can always turn to your favorite television characters to help you through.

television has also brought audiences closer to the action in many ways. People can watch all of their favorite sporting events from the comfort of their own home without having to shell out money on tickets or spending time travelling. Rather than going to concerts as well people can buy the DVD and stay in to the sounds of their top musicians. That's not to say that staying in is as good as actually being there, but it's a great alternative and you can still go to the events you want to on occasion.

of course, there are also negatives to the growth of the television market and the media. The flip-side of the coin is that people tend to spend too much time sat in-front of their TV screens rather than actually going out and achieving their goals. There is nothing more satisfying than setting a goal and accomplishing it, and the television has distracted so many people from more positive activities.

television gives instant gratification but not the lasting pleasure that you get from actually setting and achieving goals. Furthermore, it can damage your health just sitting there all day leading to weight problems and associated illness.

for the kids of today it is a particular problem as they grow up wanting to emulate their favorite celebrities and heroes copy their behaviour whether its right or wrong. With such easy access to adult content kids also suffer from psychological trauma that can have a lasting effect on their lives.

all in all, there is nothing wrong with enjoying TV is a positive way, as long as you don't over indulge. Like food, too much junk can affect your health and its the same with TV. Stick to productive programming and keep it do smaller digestible doses.
