Differences between Rowing Machines for Sale

By Kirst Frangs

There are a lot of rowing machines for sale and if you are thinking of getting one for home use, then it's important to make sure you know what it is you are looking for. This is because not all rowing machines are alike, and some are more effective at giving you a total body workout than others.

The rowing machine has many benefits for anyone wanting to get into shape. Not only is it non weight bearing but it works on both upper and lower body muscles at the same time as strengthening your core or stomach muscles. As part of our rowing training, our team used the gym rowing machines and this was one of the hardest workouts I have ever done up to this day. If used correctly the rower rowing machine, will get you into tip top shape.

However, in this article, we are not going to be talking about getting the perfect body, but finding out which fitness rowing machines are worth getting for use at home. When you do an online search, be sure to look for elliptical machines or Ergometer rowing machines too since they mean the same thing.

Have you done any shopping around for rowing machines for sale? Have you noticed that there are 2 main differences? That difference is in the handle mechanism. One group has metal handlebars which are attached to the machine and which move in an arc. The other group has a string and a flywheel. This is the main feature that differs between the two. So how will this affect your rowing experience and workout?

The machine with the fixed metal bars sets the position of your arms and hands. The rowing action is not as fluid or natural. The rowing machine with the flywheel mechanism lets you decide where to hold your arms throughout the stroke. Both groups have a seat which slides up and down the bar, and fixed foot position into which you tie your feet.

The concept two rowing machines model the exact action of rowing. They are also top quality and last for a long time. That is obviously why you find them in gyms, high schools and sports centers. They are also a more fluid rowing machine. The more you improve your technique, the more effective you will find this piece of exercise rowing equipment to be. They aren't cheap though but maybe you can find some discounted or used or on sale concept 2 rowing machines. Also look out for brands such as Tunturi, WaterRower,Lifecore and Kettler. They all produce something similar to the concept2 rowing machines.

A cheaper exercise rowing machine for sale would be the category 1 machines that we mentioned. These machines are also more compact and portable (although not all the time) and can still give you a good workout. However the workout will not be as effective as what concept 2 machines will give you. Popular brands in this range are the stamina rowing machines and the cheaper end of the scale Kettler Rowing Machines.
