Some Accurate Motion Picture Summaries To View

Until recently, if you wanted to watch a movie, a trip to a video store like blockbuster was your only option. Below is a small sample.

The Great Muppet Caper: The Muppets try to solve a London gem robbery in their second film. Here we have smart gags and ideas plus humorous lyrical numbers with Miss Piggy make up for a slow moving script with more than its share of dull moments. Cast includes The Muppet Entertainers Jim Henson, Blunt Oz, Dave Gomez, Jerry Nelson, and Jack Warden. (95 minutes, 1981)

About Adam: This is a true "chick flick". About Adam is a light hearted romantic comedy about a Don Juan type who courts all three sisters of a quirky, and tight knit, Scottish family. Somehow this charmer has all three women falling head over heels for him. Kate Hudson, Frances O'Connor, and Stuart Townsend star. (2001 Comedy-Romance)

Addams Family Values: The Addams family is back again with all the ghouls in force. This time a beautiful woman plans to marry cousin 'It' to swindle him out of his money. Anjelica Huston, Raul Julia, Christopher Lloyd, Joan Cusack, and Christina Ricci star. (1993 comedy directed by Barry Sonnenfeld)

The Rock: General Francis Hummel is angry with the U.S. government for not honoring men he has because they died during covert operations. He is so angered by this rebuke that he takes a group of tourists visiting the now closed prison of Alcatraz, and holds them hostage. He plans to unleash poisonous gases upon the city of San Francisco if his demands are not met. The unlikely team of a biological weapons expert, and a former prisoner of Alcatraz, must sneak onto the island and attempt to thwart the plot.

Sign of the Times: A punchy Prince film shot in Rotterdam and Minnesota, characteristics thirteen numbers, some overhead photography and lots of bump and grind from both genders. Stolen to some degree by megastar drummer Sheila E. Cast includes Prince, Sheila E., Sheena Easton, Dr. Fink, Mike Weaver, Levi Seacer Jr., Wally Safford, Gregory Allen Brooks, and Boni Boyer. (85 minutes, 1987)

The Geisha Boy: Jerry, an inept warlock, voyages to Japan with catastrophic repercussions. Imaginative graphic gags; there's a cute pattern characterizing the Los Angeles Dodgers and, specifically, Gil Hodges. Cast includes Jerry Lewis, Marie McDonald, Sessue Hayakawa, Nobu McCarthy, Suzanne Pleshette, Barton MacLane, and Robert Hirano. (98 minutes, 1958)

Nightmare on Elm Street Four: Refreshed by flaming mutt urine, Freddy Krueger ultimately kills all the kids of those who initially burned him to death, and looks for new teenagers to terrorize, although he's challenged by a "fantasy master," his metaphysical counterpart. Series was showing its age by this point. Cast includes Renny Harlin, Robert Englund, Rodney Eastman, Danny Hassel, Andras Jones, Tuesday Horseman, Toy Newkirk, Ken Sagoes, Brooke Theiss, and Lisa Wilcox. (92 minutes, 1988)

Frequency: John Sullivan lost his father thirty years ago. He is still affected by the loss. Somehow with the use of his father's old ham radio, he can communicate with his father, back when his father was still alive. He warns his father of the fire that would kill him. This saves his father but sets off new events that now must be resolved, or John's mother will die.

Marley and Me: Johnny and Jenny Grogen have moved to Florida to start their new life together. Jenny is ready for children, but John isn't so sure. Instead, he gets her a puppy, Marley. Marley turns out to quite a bit to handle.
