Marquies Gray Looks for Second Chance

By Garrett Bruthma

When MarQuies Gray decided to play quarterback for the Minnesota Golden Gophers last season,, various people believed him to be the future of the Gophers team. A qb with distinct raw skill and a frame fit for alternative positions, it seemed like Gray showed a handful of considerable upside.

The hyped recruit (by Rivals) from Indiana was predestined to be a part of the team in '0, however his attempt to join in '08 ended early due to scholastic concerns.

Luckily, he was able to acquire his academics resolved and presently he's begun '09 as a rookie. However, contrary to most recent year against the likely chance of him being red-shirted, Gray is being featured as an asset that could possibly be likened to that of the Philadelphia Eagles with Donovan McNabb being replaced by Adam Weber and Michael Vick getting played with MarQueis Gray.

This would be an interesting deal in Minnesota if this was actually valid.

Gray's 6'four", 222 pound frame makes him a threat with size alone not including his speed which is claimed to make him playmaker at qb similar to that of Vick.

We saw a tiny preview of it this previous week against Syracuse as Gray lined up as a slot receiver in a Wildcat disparity.

With RB Duane Bennett training to make a return to the offense and lend a hand to boost the running-game in the recently established professional-style the Gophers possess transformed to, Gray might be used all over the place to help spread the offense a tad while nevertheless retaining the running game as a key facet.

With Weber just in his junior year, it is in all likelihood that Gray won't see time as the regular starting QB for a few further seasons, although if he winds up as advertised, Minnesota Gopher fans can possess something worth rooting for in the coming years.
